One of Amy's and my favorite things to do is try new restaurants. With Ray's bedtime ritual beginning at 6:00pm, however, we don't get much of a chance to do that much anymore. Nevertheless, Amy never misses a "Seattle's Best Restaurants" or "Dining Guide" issue of whatever newspaper or magazine we happen upon, and she carefully plots out our dining-out plans so we know where to go when we get a night off.
Amy's mom is in town, so we were able to try out Flying Fish, a well-reviewed Belltown eatery, on Sunday night.
I'm no food photographer, and my cell phone takes really lousy pictures, but following the jump, you can take a look at the marvelously-constructed and super-tasty dishes we consumed on our night out.
We started with a tuna poke. The raw tuna was neatly set atop a pile of marinated seaweed and won ton.
For cocktails, Amy had something with rum and sugar (I forget the name) and I had an "Oceans 10," which consisted of vodka, citrus fruit juices, and muddled basil leaves.
For the main course, Amy selected the bass with lobster saffron quinoa, carrot sauce, and sugar snap peas.
I had the halibut with dried cherry couscous and vanilla bean butter accompanied by asparagus.
To top it all off, Amy had a lime green tea cheesecake with lemon grass sorbet and ginger anglaise.
and I chose the chocolate banana spring rolls with mint leaves in pool of passion fruit puree.
Despite our relatively limited exposure to Seattle-area fine dining establishments, we highly recommend Flying Fish. We hear they have a good lunch menu as well, so maybe a trip back there with the boy sometime soon is in order.
